Deledda School, Genova, Italy, is looking for an European School partner to work at a History project promoted by the Council of Europe:

TEACHING HISTORY IN EUROPEAN DIMENSION

The project is to be intended as the prosecution of the 2003/2006 program which allowed upper secondary schools to work in partnership analysing European XX century history. The second step will involve both primary and upper secondary schools and it will be centred on five ?turning points? in our recent European history:

1848, the year of revolutions , which laid the bases of the constitutional framework of the European countries;
1912-13, the years of the Balcan wars
1919 , the year of the Peace Conference in Paris, which ended the World War I and restyled the political map of Europe
1945, the year of the Yalta Conference, which established a new balance between the world powers and witnessed the birth of a ?Cold War? between the soviet and the western area, with vital consequences for Europe
1989, year of the implosion of the Soviet Union and of the crumbling of Berlin wall.

Detailed info can be found on the Council of Europe website:

Schools that wish to join in are requested to find at least one partner to cooperate with: this is to be seen as a fundamental condition, since the project aims at supporting the building of a ?European public ground? meant to implement the awareness of our common roots and to contribute to bring about a European Dimension in Teaching.

We would like to work on 1919 or 1989 but we are open to suggestions (also 1945 is a good date, especially in case of collaboration with a German school). The age group of the students we would like to involve in the project is 15-18 years.
As the project is meant to be developed in 3 years (the final products have to be ready in November 2009) we have still plenty of time to start the collaboration. Please have a look at the website link above and let us know as soon as possible if you are interested.
Feel free to get in touch with Ottilia Braccini (History teacher at Deledda) for any queries you may have at ottiliabraccini@hotmail.com

Успех!
:-)
