People have been relying too much on movie and literary characters when choosing a Halloween costume. What they do not know is that TV characters also make a good adult costume. For example, Star Trek, which is mostly reserved for “geeks”, is quite popular. But there are others that are cool like CSI, Mr. Bean, and even animated characters like Homer and Marge Simpson or Kenny from Southpark. They are also very distinctive.

As for the vampire, sticking to the classics would be best. Nobody wants to see grown men with glitters all over them.

If you’re over 18 and are invited to a costume party, pick an age-appropriate adult costume. Leave the cartoon characters to kids. As for superheroes, well, that’s another matter. If you actually are buff enough to be convincing as Superman or not look awful in a Wonder Woman costume, then by all means wear them. It would be a treat for other grown-ups who opted not to get an adult costume.

A Mask Will Do It

It’s not easy to find a decent erotic costume and most of us don’t really have the time to make one. So why not just go as the killer from one of the slasher flicks? They almost always look the same. To be Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th, all you need it a dirty ski mask and a bulky brown jacket. Masks for Freddy Kruger are sold everywhere. Or you can just carry a fake bloody knife around.

Rock Out a Rockstar Costume

One could never go wrong in wearing a classic rocker’s outfit to an adult costume party. You could go as one of ZZ Top, Mick Jagger, Ozzy Osbourne, Steven Tyler, Janice Joplin and Alanis Morissette. All you’ll need is long hair, actually, then you can add from there. Tight leather pants are a staple for this, too. A little eyeliner and mascara would also help make the getup realistic.

Superheroes for Adults

With the host of superhero movies released these past few years, grown-ups now have a wider choice range for a superhero adult costume. These new ones do not even require wearing tights. There’s Rorschach from Watchmen, Hellboy, and Wolverine. For ladies, it’s a bit harder to move away from tight outfits. If wearing bodysuits is not a problem, then some of the good ones include Beatrix from Kill Bill and Storm from X-Men.

Do Not Wear the Same Thing as Your Kid

Unless you’re going as Dr. Evil and Mini Me, it’s really not a good idea to wear the same Halloween costume as your kid. It’s tacky. There are a lot of great adult costume ideas on the Internet so why not search a little? You can even go as Dr. House, Mr. Bean, Liz Lemon, or one of the Desperate Housewives and not have to buy or make special clothes!
